Suddenly, September . . .
CLUB NEWS

Seranova off Hayes Road is our next ride on the Second Sunday of the month: September 12, 2010. There is a permit for camping. For the Club Luncheon: Please bring a side dish to go with the pizzas that one of our kind members is picking up for lunch after the ride and meeting. The Club is able to provide lunch due to their winning money for the Best Performance at the July 4th Parade in Brooksville. We hope to see you there!
The August Club Ride was at Lake Townsend Regional Park, Lake Lindsey Rd., Brooksville, FL. It was an iffy chance to decide to ride. There was rain everywhere, but on us. We heard thunder and waited 30 minutes, but no rain. There were 8 of us for the splendid, lucky ride. Our meeting was held under the pavilion and our Pres. was at a Horse Show, so our VP led the meeting. Discussed was our three responses from the horse rescues, ordering new t-shirts of just one color and our future rides (see below). If you know of others that want to ride a variety of trails, camp at fun places, please refer them to the website www.suncoasttrailriders.org. or a member. We want your support and to keep the Club going STRONG! 2010 STROFF Membership Fees are due. ($15 Single, $20 Family.) Please mail your Application to the P.O. Box or see board member for application at next meeting. We also ALWAYS welcome guests. Please join us for the ride old friends and new!

PAST RECENT RIDES:

Just a few words on past rides: The Club’s monthly optional ride was at Little River Recreation Area, Richloam Tract. It is way back in the woods, about 3.5 miles down a well kept dirt road. We had 5 riders and 5 horses. It was nice ride with a "little river", lakes and grassy trails. A good summer place to ride. Let’s go again.

NEWS:

If you want to assist with a workday, the Back Country Horsemen have scheduled two days in September to clean up Tillis Hill, Withlacoochee State Forest, Citrus Tract. The dates are 9/11 and 9/25. Contact Horsewoman, Sally McDavid, ssmcdavid@gmail.com if you can help. Remember to get your permit at for SWFMD properties at www.watermatters.org/recreation. We have a new contact at SWFMD for Connor Preserve and Seranova. He is Shawn Woodard.
We have heard from the attorney re: avoidance of building a Croom dump. There is a delay, which is good. We can obtain more funds to handle the defense. There is a ride November 7, 2010, for the fight against the Croom landfill.  The ride will go out of Margaret and John Bushell’s ranch and will be a new track through private property in both Pasco and Hernando (approximately a 3 hour ride).  Please ask a board member if you are interested. It is $25.00 per ride.
At the Board Meeting on August 11, 2010, we discussed the Doe Lake Ride, the Poker Ride and horse rescues and bringing baked goods for purchase at the Poker Ride on October 31, 2010. There was a vote to have one colored T-shirt per year with the words STROFF and year on the front of the T-shirt and the first year will be RED. September's optional ride will be at the Greenway - Ross Paririe CAMPING: 9/24 9/26. Our next STROFF board meeting will be at Denny’s at the Flying J Truck Stop (corner of SR52 and I75N) on September 15, 2010. Please call a Board member to make sure of the date in case you want to attend.
